4/15/2000 -  Teriyaki Steak & Shrimp

The Marinate Recipe

Today I filed my income taxes - while they weren't due until Monday the 17th, I thought I would be a little early this year. I started with a nice sirloin steak about 1.25 inches thick. By the time that we start cooking, it will have been marinating for about 30 hours. I'm using the same marinate for a few shrimp -  about 45 minutes in the marinate should do on the shrimp.

05:45pm - The steak went on the BGE at 5:45 - dome temperature 750 degrees - 2.5 minutes per side followed by 6 minutes with the vents closed. With 4 minutes left I put the shrimp in the heat - with 2 minutes left, I placed the skewered shrimp on the grid.

The results kind of speak for themselves - my wife's only comment (other than the steak was great) was to save the marinate recipe - it's better than the others that we've tried - sometimes the simplest things truly are the best.

BTW - the marinate works great on  the shrimp!

Last time I forgot the recipe, used 1/3 each of pineapple, soy and lemon juice. Marinated the steak for about 3 hours and the shrimp for about 1 hour. The  RESULTS were still reallly good!
